Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[The Edge of Grace] Obsessions: I decided on a school in Seattle and spent the next year and a half preparing, taking some prerequisite classes. Then, just before I was going to send in my application to Seattle, I decided to look around the Internet a bit for other schools, just for the hell of it.

[The Babalu Bark] Issue One Sheet: Exercise, Junk Food and Obesity: Senate Bill 5436 directs the Washington State School Directors Association, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and other stakeholders to convene an advisory committee charged withdeveloping a state model policy regarding access to nutritious foodsand opportunities for developmentally appropriate exercise. Thecommittee’s work must reference the nutritional content of foods andbeverages sold in schools in direct competition with federal schoolbreakfast and lunch programs, as well as the development ofage-appropriate physical education curricula for Washington students.

http://ninjanun.blogspot.com [ninjanun] A Walk in the Woods: Seattle is a very pedestrian-friendly city (unlike so many in the Midwest), and the culture is such that you can go hiking and camping at the drop of your quick-drying, moisture-wicking, UPF +30 nylon hat, so I was given ample opportunity to flex my muscles outdoors. After I quit my desk job and became a housekeeper, it was part of my job to be physically active.

[Rantastic.spacemonkeys.ca] Rantastic: Firefly went on the air a few years ago and was instantly hailed by critics as one of the most canceled shows of the year. It was ignored and abandoned and the story should end there, but it doesn't, because the people who made the show and the people who saw the show (which is...roughly...the same number of people) fell in love with it a little bit...too much to let it go, too much to lay down arms when the battle looked pretty much lost.

Jacksonsun.comhttp://www.jacksonsun.com [Jacksonsun.com] Musings; Ellen's Outdoors Blog: Within an hour I was on my way to a put-in site with Blake Humphreys, whose company, One Life Outfitters, takes groups on canoeing and kayaking trips in nearby rivers and also holds classes in rapelling, caving and climbing. Humphreys was kind enough to take me to a boat ramp on a Saturday afternoon with no notice.

Pkmeco.com[Pkmeco.com] A Family Runs Through It: I stumbled upon a blog I'd never seen before, One Child Left Behind, and found an incredibly beautiful and humorous post, On the Event of Your Seventh Birthday. It's an open letter from the author to his son.
